This year is the 400 th anniversary of the Pilgrims landing upon our shores. This small band of religious dissidents hardly strike us as the heroes of a grand historical epic stretching across four centuries, thousands of miles, and millions of people, but it is no exaggeration to say that their courageous voyage fundamentally altered the direction of the world.
